The road never ends

Today I was reading a blog by a young lady who lost 135 pounds and essentially cut her weight in half in just over 18 months.  She was saying how she doesnt exercise anymore and just watches what she eats and walsk when she can and just enjoys life.  First of all kudos to her. But my heart breaks for the thousands of people who commented on her blog and actually believe that this is a way to lose weight when you are morbidly obese!!  What this blogger forgot to remind her readers about is the fact that she ran 45 minutes everyday for a year to lose 80+ pounds!! Do these folks think fat falls off your body because you will it to? Im truly sad for them:(

Those of you who have known me for over 2 years can remember when I myself tipped the scales at a whopping 296 pounds. I lost weight, yes Ive lost 121 pounds. But I can surely tell you it wasnt because I waved my magic fat girl wand and willed those pounds away thats for sure!!

I can remember many days I cried while running, or I had to excuse myself from zumba class to have a private moment in the bathroom to remind myself why I was there and what my goals for myself were. Fitness and having a fit lifestyle can be dreadful some days, but when you make yourself and your health a priority it becomes easier and I can say now I enjoy eating healthy, I enjoy getting my heart rate up and sweating it out!!

In my 2 weeks so far of training for the Iron Girl Triathlon, Ive faced new challenges in my weight loss journey. I got in the water to do laps last night and I had to just stop and laugh at myself because for a brief moment I had forgotten how to lap swim!! LOL  This coming from a girl who grew up on swim teams. After 500m (10 laps back and forth in a standard pool) I was exhausted. Like jello-o for sure. But, my mind is focused ... I have a goal. I dont want to win this Iron Girl, I dont even care to place, I just want to finish without the aid of an oxygen tank and an EMT ... lol.

1 mile swim, 17 miles bike, 3.2 miles running .... Desire leads to dedication, dedication brings permanent change, and permanent change produces permanent results!!

GODS PEACE
